I slightly sprained my left foot two times in September and November last year. It began to twinge for a day or two but the pain disappeared. I thought it wasn’t serious so I didn’t take care of it. It was a mistake by me.
The pain on my foot came back and it is tender again. I am experiencing some shooting pains when I press on the ankle area. I probably walk funny without knowing it the past months. It is now affecting my body alignment. Now my other parts of my body aches and sores. Yuck!
This isn’t new to me and I feel terrible and upset. about it. Sigh! The recovery takes weeks. It includes P.R.I.C.E.: protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation. I also includes regular visit to the chiropractor, taping, exercise moderately, cutting back high impact stuff, taking rest days, and making sure the pain is really gone. I hope to speed up the recovery process by rubbing and soaking my foot with Chinese aged medicine liquor.
Wish me luck.

I want to start off with writing about my beloved dog P boy. Lately he is driving me and my hubby nuts while we are in bed sleeping. He is a 1+ year old dog so I still refer him as a puppy. Every night he acts like a 2 year old child who wakes up in the middle of night and walk onto mommy and daddy’s bed. Whenever he does that, we correct him right away. He listens, gives you an innocent look then walk back to his usual sleeping spot on the floor. Quietly he will sleep over an hour to two hours or so. Then, in the middle of the night he climbs up to our bed and steps on our legs and lays down to sleep in the middle. Sometimes we are so deep asleep that we are not aware of that happening until he flips, turns, stretches and kicks. Recently we both suffer from body aches in the morning.
Despite the aches, I do enjoy the occurrence. P boy has funny sleeping positions. Seeing that just make me laugh so hard. The best one was seeing a pair of fore paws hanging in front of my face no further than 1inch after I got woke up and open my eyes. It is right there in your face. This is really a funny view and I wish I can take a photo but the room is just too dark to capture it. This is the closer representation that I could find in the piles of stock photo.
I am not stopping this behavior yet and still let him sneak into our bed in the middle of the night. I know this is not the way to show leadership, but I enjoy the bonding with him despite the body aches in the morning. I expect P boy will eventually get tired of sleeping with us very soon. Everyday he grows bigger, longer and wider and he will look for more space to sleep at night. The same happens to my other dog, B boy; therefore, it is just a matter of time. So I will give P boy 2 more months to grow out of this behavior. Time flies by so quickly that I know I would miss the puppy-like coziness later on.

This is my first blog post of the new year.
Happy 2010 everyone. Hope all of you had a blast and wonderful holiday. As for me I had a long holiday. Actually I pretty much got the same number of day offs like everybody else. But I had been a lazy girl throughout the holiday.
One day I took some time to write out some new year resolution. Well I admitted some of them are so familiar. Since I have been slacking off quite a bit in Q4 of 2009. I am going to begin with extra effort and go extra miles to reach my goals. May the force be with me the whole year. I mean really talking about “all 4 quarters” of the whole year.
A little fun fact from Quirkology showing that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends.
I had mine written down on a piece of paper and placed it somewhere very prominent on my desk. This will work this time.

Recently I am playing the games by Storm 8 entitled iMobsters and World War on my iphone.
I really don’t know why I play these games. There is no animation and no actual fighting scene for you to enjoy except those very lively vocal and sound effects in between the game play.
So what are the games about? Yeah, just press buttons, I attack, sometimes I win but mostly I lose my games. Then I go buy stuff, spam my invite code to get more people to become my ally. And then repeat everything again and again until I ask myself why am I playing these games. But I keep repeating this all over again and again. And I can’t stop playing it! Why are these games so addictive.

Every time I visit Seattle I must visit this busy restaurant for lunch. You may call it a narrow storefront, a counter, or a tiny restaurant. It is a very busy place where you can find house-cured Italian meats along with hot or cold sandwiches, and platters. Cooked meats includes sausages, meatballs, oxtails, whereas cured meats vary from salamis, coppa, culatello, pancetta, prosciuttos and cured lamb.
I have been to Salumi countless times. When I first went there the lineup was over 10 people long. Now I figure if I arrive before noon, I should miss the lunch crowd. But there is always a line of 5-6 people ahead of me. When I order, I always have a difficult time to decide on a sandwich. Sometimes it is because there are a few choices of meat that I want to try, but sometimes it is just because they tend to run out of certain meats, cheeses or breads.
Salumi is a small restaurant. There is only one big table where people eat and mingle. Free water and wines (for $4.5/glass) are available on the same table for self serve. It seems that they have a small room that you can reserve for special occasions (for $40/people, of course!).
Last week, my hubby and I waited in line for just 15 minutes. I call it a blessing already. We got two sandwiches to split: the culatello with mozarella on ciabatta with garlic spread and olive oil, and the grilled lamb on ciabatta with peppers and onions.
They were so flavorful. The sandwiches and meats there are truly of the higher quality. I definitely found an appreciation for the authentic Italian taste.
Also, I overheard that the “meatballs” are huge and they taste sensational. Anyway, if you are in Seattle, Salumi is worth a try for lunch.

Side story: My dog P loves plush toys. He likes to play with his plush toys from time to time to amuse himself. Sometimes he likes to play rough with his plush toys; sometimes he likes to carry them from room to room and sometimes he likes to chew them. He is one plush toys lover but also a destroyer. That’s okay to me as long as he is having fun. I just need to buy new toys in order to keep up with him.
So yesterday after seeing him ripped open an elephant plushie, I went online shopping for new toys. I came to a website called Funny Fur. There were some cute plushies that caught my attention. The site fills with many unique plushies such as these ones: (They are “High Life” plushies but so funny and adorable in my human eyes).

After a friend who recently baked some cupcakes I was tempted to bake some of my own. So I began to look for some recipes. When I think of making cupcakes, I automatically would think of Martha Stewart. So I checked out her website and found some recipes. This would be my first time to make cupcake so I sort out the difficulty recipes and chose some easy to follow ones.
I know cupcakes usually have icing on them. Buttercream? Yes, I love to eat buttercream so I decided to make some buttercream icing. Banana? Yes, I love banana so I also decided to make banana flavoured cupcakes. In the end, I made the buttercream on my own by following the recipe and I bought a banana muffin mix from the supermarket.
The making procedure wasn’t too hard. I got help from my darling and we managed to baked a few cupcakes. The cupcakes came out pretty nice and even sized. The buttercream icing turned out sweet and smooth. We experimented and played around with the icing using cake decorating tips.
Finally, here are the end results.

Boo! Happy Halloween! There is one cupcake with a little “Halloween” touch too. Here’s a closer look of the cupcake. Q. What is it?
A: It’s a “Brain”.

I’m back. Recently I spent a whole month over in HK. This long overdue trip was my first holiday for over two years. I had a great time catching up with my family members and friends but also got to know baby J. It has been a wonderful time but hectic. I won’t be taking any long trip soon. I am drained from this trip.

I always imagine myself riding a motorcycle on the Sea to Sky Highway. It may not sound adventurous to some riders, but It is a big goal for me as a new rider. I just started riding again in this summer, and throughout the summer I have been riding regularly. Before I take on the hwy, I need to know if I would be ready to go for higher speeds. In August, I felt that I am ready to taste the hwy. I rode my bike onto Sea to Sky highway 3 times and they were all group riding. Having ridden in a group, I felt more confident and fun.
Sea to Sky hwy is a scenic drive. One side is the ocean, and the other side are rocky mountains. It has been undergoing an improvement project for the Winter Olympic 2010, which includes straightening, widening and improving sightlines. Althought the improvement has eliminated serveral sharp curves, there are still many curves, which sport riders like.
Riding on the hwy gave me great pleasure. My first ride on the hwy was the most nervous. The adrenaline rushes through my veins at every curve. Am I too slow or too fast? Did I set up properly when entering the curve? At fast speeds, some curves did catch me off guard. As I rode on, the riding experience got better; I could find my comfortable speed level, though at some points there are vehicles were still blowing by me like I’m standing still. But the second and third rides felt lot easier and more relaxing. I managed to beat my previous top speed riding on the same hwy, and I even managed to take a few peeks towards the ocean to enjoy the views. I now fully understand why the Sea to Sky hwy is notable for scenic drives in BC.
A little fact of the Sea to Sky Highway: it is the name given to a section of Highway 99, north of Vancouver, beginning at Horseshoe Bay and to the north past Lions Bay, Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. Now it has 4 lane sections with scenic passes for both the Pacific Ocean and rugged mountain peaks.
